8 San Antonio Restaurants For When You Need to Act Like You're Living Your Best Life (for Social Media)
We’ve all been there. The post-breakup, the victim of ghosting, the heartbreak and wanting nothing more than to lay on the floor of your bedroom and never really get back up. And while your feelings are valid and we feel for you whole-heartedly here on this blog. You gotta get up, finally shower and do something- preferably with people all around you and in a setting where the sun will at least hit your face once.
So instead of hate-following your ex and pointing out how their life is somehow better- let’s work on creating a whole mood for you to take control of the narrative. We’re talking about living your perfect, best life post heartache. Even if you’re crying on the inside, no one has to know. We’re talking dancing a fine line between an independent woman (man, gender non-binary, however you identify) and I’ve moved on (call me, please) shots.
Here’s where the fake it ‘til you make it might come into play. Chin-up buttercup let’s get this show on the road.
Feast
Here’s the thing about Feast. You’re not actually going to Feast to get full. You go to Feast to sit outside and people watch. You’ll get the same high from dating apps of judging people without the commitment of actually talking to people and you’ll be able to grab some lamb kebabs on the side. Plus when you document yourself for the ‘gram at this South Town hotspot they’ll notice you’re sitting outside which is a status symbol in and of itself.
Little Death Wine Bar
You know how a part of you feels dead because of your heart being ripped out of your chest? Well instead of consuming $3 Chucks at home alone, dry your eyes and hang out at Little Death. You’re the cool one hanging out at a wine bar actually enjoying the finer things in life. Mention that you’ve moved on to classier things in your life in your caption.
Steel City Pops (Southtown Location)
This might be a low blow but remember how your ex had a super cold heart? Well, grab a popsicle at Steel City Pops with all the extras to remind you never to settle for something so cold. Pose by the white walls, lay on the grass and look your cutest self. You’re shining bright like the star you are and the world needs to see this ice pop before it melts from how hot you look.
Down on Grayson
Part of going through the best life is hanging out with your group of friends shooting the shit. The patio at Down on Grayson is just for you. You’re not going to eat, because you’re still nursing a break-up but in case you’ve gotta pace yourself, there’s plenty of food options. You can choose ultra-healthy or super indulgent. We’re not here to judge you. We’re here to encourage your life choices and make sure you take 75 photos to prove it.
Toro Kitchen + Bar
There’s always a point in your post-break-up life when you’re thinking about that one guy you met abroad whom you had a torrid love affair in Spain and how things would have been different if you had still been in that relationship (even though deep down inside you knew he did this to every girl) everything would be okay? No, was that just me? If it was me then I’d be talking about a French guy… Okay, fine so maybe it was me. If I was still in that magical summer romance with the French guy I wouldn’t be here writing this and you’d be missing out on important news.
Toro is the spot where you’re going to capture a guy with a spicy accent on your social media to make people watching your stories be like, “who they with?” Also, this is 2019 and we don’t refer to accents as spicy or exotic but you get the gist. You’re using someone with an accent to make people talk about you.
Chocollazo (broadway location)
The reason we’re picking the Chocollazo on Broadway over their other downtown location is that that one is located near a park with kids. We’re celebrating single life, not family life. You’ve also already eaten through several fun-sized full-sized bags and it’s time to slow your roll. We don’t need breakouts but we do need yummy treats and cute milkshakes. Snap a shot with you and a shake and caption it: the snack that smiles back.
Tre Trattoria
FOMO can be a really big thing. Especially if you’re on Netflix all day. So why not live-out every Indie movie cliche. Step one dance really weird while you’re getting ready. Step two go view art and get really introspective. Step three eat at Tre Trattoria because at least your stomach will be full of the pinnacle of comfort foods and you know what they say- panza llena corazón contento. No español? It means full tummy happy heart cute smiles on Facebook.
George’s Keep
This swanky northside bar is the spot to hide in and set the mood. Maybe you’re ready to date. Maybe you’re ready for an all-day happy hour on Sunday. George’s Keep is here to welcome you in. This dark, moody bar is perfect to practice your new flirting skills or retrain yourself in the art of the ghost. Dating is really hard so maybe stick to the cocktails, sit in a booth and snap a cute memory.
Maybe I’m still hurting from a break-up and that’s why I’m a blogger. Maybe I just wanna write the stuff that you didn’t know you needed. As always be sure to follow my San Antonio foodie Instagram @sanantoniolovelist to keep up with the latest.
