We often hear about our neighbors to the north and the large amount of live music going on in their city. So we compiled a list of all the repeat music events you’ll have to catch in SA so you can all aspects of live music from the intimate setting to a monthly DJ party with 100 of your closest friends. San Antonio has plenty of live music to offer and this is the first of multiple posts where we’re going to highlight the love of music.

Balcones Jazz Fest 

I bet you’re looking for a fun, family-friendly event… well, you came to the right place! Balcones Heights hosts a Jazz Festival for all of San Antonio! This free event happens on Sundays during the summer! Check out the Wonderland of the Americas at their outdoor amphitheater!

La Cantera Jazz Concert Series Schedule

Here it is, an outdoor Jazz festival! Enjoy the fresh air while listening to some live Jazz music with a glass of wine! This free event is located at the falls near Yardhouse at La Cantera, with a plentiful amount of free parking. This event is only goes on in October, so you better enjoy this beautiful weather and free live music!

Lonesome Lounge Sessions

It’s your turn to pick where you and your friends are going out this weekend! So, pick the Lonesome Lounge Session, sweet vibes all around with indoor/outdoor enjoyment. This event is held at the Lonesome Rose and tickets can be found here! You and your friends will have a great time at the bar, chitchatting and listening to live music!

Jazz’SAlive at Travis Park

A downtown opportunity for you to listen to some live jazz right in the heart of the city! Enjoy this free event while indulging in some great food. Bring blankets, snacks, and lawn chairs.

Music for Advanced Listeners

Welcome to new music from Music For Advanced Listeners! Chill vibes are always guaranteed at these free live music events which are held the first Thursday of every month! Catch this gig at Dorćol Bar + Taproom and prepare for street parking! Get out of the house and have some adult time!

Party at the Tower Plaza

All you need is love? No, all you need is live music! Join all of San Antonio at this free Party at the Tower Plaza at The Tower of Americas! There is metered parking and space is limited, so come out and dance before someone steals your parking spot. You will not want to miss this monthly event!

Rooftop Jazz

Do you need a reason to look great and go out on the town? Check out Artpace’s Rooftop Jazz Concert Series! This is a members-only event, but you can join the club for a minimum of $60 a year (and you’re supporting local KRTU 91.7). And for those of you wondering, there will for sure be beer and wine!

Second Thursday at the McNay

If you’re looking for something that’s outdoors and family-friendly with a splash of live music? Well, I got you. Join the McNay on their Second Thursdays! This event consists of food, art, live music, and yes, you can bring your furry friend (he just can’t go in the museum)! Just to let you know, parking is free but be the first one there because it is limited. Get outside and have fun (for free)!

SoFar Sounds

Get ready for secret monthly shows that make you feel like a V.I.P. Sign up for SoFar shows and see if you get on the list! Within 24 hours of the gig, you will be given a location and instructions. How cool! Prepare for an unknown location and multiple unknown artists. Parking will vary depending on the site! Believe me, this is something you won’t want to miss!

Bring your family, friends, and dance your heart out! If you’d rather have a party outside than sweat in a dark bar this is the music event for you.
