How to Make a Slurpee with 1 Ingredient!

Can I say that one of my favorite things in the entire world is a Coke Slurpee? I grew up in Southern California and one of my favorite memories is my Abuelo and I walking all the way to 7-Eleven to get a Coke Slurpee and then heading back home. As I grew older I started to find cool ways to drink the coke Slurpees including eating Laffy Taffy's and then drinking the Coke Slurpee (it would freeze the Candy) and it would create a cool experience.

Here's the thing though there are some days when I really want a Coke Slurpee and finding one might not be so easy. I'm pretty sure that you're wanting to have it accessible to you whenever so that’s why you’re here! So how do you make a homemade Coke Slurpee or any kind of Slurpee for that matter. I'm sure you tried soda and ice and it comes out way too watery. Or you've tried that soda bottle trick but it doesn’t ever come out like the tutorials.

Forget all that- ya girl’s gonna teach you a whole new world! We’re basically using only one ingredient. I say basically because if you want to add alcohol or mix soda flavors you're more than welcome to. The reason we’re using the frozen liquid of the kind is so that as it melts it mixes well with the drink we’re already consuming. No more watered slushies!

How to Make a Slurpee with 1 Ingredient!

Here’s What You Need:

What you're going to need is:

  • Two 12 oz cans of Coke or any soda  (you can even use flat soda for this)

  • Optional: Alcohol of your choice

Now that you have everything, you're going to need patience.

I mentioned that you could use flat soda, which is cool since we always get stuck with flat soda. In the ice cube tray or the plastic cups go ahead and pour the soda in and then stick it in the freezer. I prefer to do this the night before or earlier in the day- you’ll need at least 4 hours.

When your soda has frozen, then you're ready to rock and roll. The important thing for creating the Frozen slush is the small single blender or NutriBullet. The small surface area allows you to control the temperature better. I’m not sure about all the science, I know Russian Literature. You’ll end up with a less melted product in the long run.

You want to have at least 8 oz of frozen soda (or juice) to 12 oz of cold soda. Pour them both into the cup of the small blender and blend for 15 seconds. Remove, (still closed) shake it so the ice doesn’t get stuck, and blend again for 30  seconds. At this point, it should already be ready to drink. If you're looking to add alcohol add it and blend once more for 10-15 seconds to incorporate it well.

Pour into a cup and enjoy!
